Which to choose?
Both are delicious and nutritious!
Pomegranate Fruit
Peeling a pomegranate can be fairly labor intensive, but the sweet and tangy fruit is definitely worth the effort, and the crunchy seeds are a great source of fiber. And it doesn't take much to get the full health benefit.
Just one pomegranate equals approximately 6 ounces of juice and contains about 40% of your daily requirement of Vitamin C.
Pomegranate Juice
Fortunately, for pomegranate lovers, pomegranate juice is just as tasty and obviously far more convenient since it doesn't have to be peeled! It can be purchased in a pure juice form or as a concentrate that can be mixed with water. Pure pomegranate juice tends to be a little expensive, but it has all the right nutrients and benefits. More importantly, pomegranate juice is available all year round, unlike the fruit that you can only find in stores in the fall and winter months.
Make sure to buy pure pomegranate juice without any additives to maximize the health benefits.
How much is enough? There is no conclusive answer as yet. However, as little as 4 ounces a day has proven beneficial. Most sources recommend 4 to 6 to ounces a day for maximum health benefits.
Watching your weight? Pomegranates and pomegranate juice both contain sugar, but it is the naturally occurring kind. If you prefer to skip the sugar, consider a pomegranate supplement.
Juice vs. Fruit?
You be the judge!
Choose pomegranate juice or the tangy taste of a fresh pomegranate. Either way you're making a delicious and healthy choice!
